Who We Are

Founded in response to the growing digital divide and youth unemployment in Northern Ghana, Thrive Nest delivers practical, market-driven programmes that enable individuals to participate meaningfully in today’s digital economy. Our work is strongly focused on early-stage entrepreneurs, particularly TVET students, young people transitioning into work, women-led businesses, informal sector artisans, and agribusiness and agricultural value chain actors who often lack access to structured business support, relevant skills, and market opportunities. We operate across the Tamale Metropolitan Area, Sagnarigu and Savelugu.

Digital Literacy/Digital Skills

This priority area focuses on equipping individuals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses with practical digital skills that support education, employment, entrepreneurship, and participation in the digital economy. Thrive Nest delivers training in digital literacy, digital marketing, content creation, online communication, productivity tools, and the practical use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.

The focus extends beyond basic digital access to helping participants apply technology to real-life opportunities. For young people and TVET students, this includes developing digital competencies that support learning, career development, and workplace readiness. For SMEs and entrepreneurs, it includes using digital platforms for branding, marketing, customer engagement, business communication, and growth.

Thrive Nest also works to reduce the digital divide by reaching underserved communities and groups with limited access to structured digital training. Through community-based initiatives, practical training, mentorship, and partnerships, participants are supported in building confidence and using digital tools productively.

Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Enterprise Development

This thematic area focuses on helping individuals transform ideas, skills, and opportunities into viable and sustainable enterprises. Thrive Nest supports aspiring entrepreneurs, startups, SMEs, and informal businesses through entrepreneurship training, business development support, mentorship, incubation, and market readiness initiatives.

The work covers areas such as business model development, financial literacy, marketing, branding, product development, customer discovery, pricing, business planning, governance, and access to markets and funding.

The thematic area also supports enterprises in sectors with strong potential for local economic development, including agribusiness and creative enterprises. In agribusiness, Thrive Nest supports entrepreneurs to explore value addition, digital marketing, market access, business management, and opportunities across agricultural value chains. In the creative economy, support can include creative business development, digital content, photography, filmmaking, design, fashion, crafts, and other creative ventures.

Innovation is integrated across these interventions, with participants encouraged to use technology, creative problem solving, and new business models to respond to local market needs. The broader objective is to strengthen enterprise resilience, create livelihoods, and contribute to local economic development.

Employability and Workforce Readiness

This thematic area focuses on preparing young people and other jobseekers with the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to access and succeed in employment. Thrive Nest recognises that employability requires a combination of technical, digital, professional, and interpersonal competencies.

Programs in this area include career readiness, CV and application support, workplace digital skills, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, and professional development. Where appropriate, participants are also connected to entrepreneurship and self-employment pathways.

Thrive Nest works with training institutions, employers, government agencies, and other partners to ensure that employability programs respond to changing labour market needs. Particular attention is given to young people transitioning from education or training into work, as well as individuals seeking to strengthen their existing skills and improve their economic opportunities

Inclusive Empowerment

This thematic area focuses on expanding access to skills, entrepreneurship, employment, and economic opportunities for groups that are often underserved or excluded from mainstream development programmes. Thrive Nest places particular emphasis on women, persons with disabilities, young people, and underserved communities.

A key component is women’s economic empowerment through community-specific skills development. Thrive Nest identifies the needs, existing skills, resources, and economic opportunities within each community and uses these to inform the design of training programmes for women. Rather than applying a standard training package across communities, interventions are adapted to local economic activities and market opportunities.

This may include training in areas such as agribusiness and value addition, food processing, crafts, fashion, digital services, creative enterprises, retail, or other locally relevant livelihood opportunities. Women are supported with practical skills alongside entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital skills, marketing, and business development to help them turn these skills into sustainable sources of income.

For persons with disabilities and other underserved groups, Thrive Nest promotes accessible and inclusive approaches to skills development and enterprise support. The organisation works with disability organisations, community leaders, public institutions, and other stakeholders to understand specific needs and reduce barriers to participation.

Through this approach, Thrive Nest seeks to strengthen women’s economic participation while ensuring that skills development is relevant to the community, responsive to local opportunities, and connected to pathways for income generation and enterprise development.
